Why CLC?

I have always had a passion for making learning fun and equitable for all!  Giving a child a safe and fun place to learn and grow is one of the greatest gifts you can give them. CLC goes above and beyond academics, providing students with opportunities to learn how to advocate for themselves, communicate effectively, help them discover their passions, and guide them to the pathway that will help them reach their full potential. My goal is to bring high quality academic support and enrichment to the entire community!

Kelly Rix

Kelly Rix

∴ Development Manager

Kelly graduated from the University of South Florida in Tampa, Florida, with a bachelor’s degree in international studies.  She has spent the last four years working in the non-profit sector as both a volunteer and employee, and believes that the most fulfilling and joyful experiences are those that enrich children’s lives.
Being the mother of a child with special needs, I have shifted my focus from working in the corporate world to helping kids in our mountain communities who should have access to all the options available in a rural setting, just as they do in the suburbs.
I believe that every child has the basic right to learn at their own speed in an environment where they are safe, loved and able to thrive both academically and socially.  As they customized instruction for every student, CLC creates an environment that fosters and develops that growth.

John

Tutor

I’ve been with CLC for 3 years as a Math and SAT/ACT tutor, primarily with high schoolers through Precalculus. Most of my students wanted help with Algebra, Geometry, and Algebra 2, all topics I really enjoy teaching.

I retired after a long career as a Research Scientist, and have been tutoring privately and for a number of organizations since 2012. I love Math and enjoy sharing my enthusiasm for it and watching students make connections and learn to enjoy it themselves.

Vincent Marias

Vincent Marias

Tutor

I recently graduated from Colorado School of Mines with my B.S. and M.S. in mathematics and computer science, and I’ll be returning to school in the Fall to pursue a PhD at Oregon State University. As a teaching assistant for many years, I found a passion for education; the goal of obtaining my doctorate is to become a university professor. I absolutely adore teaching, seeking to discover the mental models that work for each student, and which will lead to a new idea finally “clicking” into place. At CLC, I work with maths, chemistry, and physics students at all levels, including AP, IB, and CMC courses.
